Could sterile neutrinos be the next new fundamental particle?

Recent measurements of neutrino fluxes inside the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment, pictured here, seemed to turn up significantly fewer neutrinos than theorists had predicted, potentially due to the existence of sterile neutrinos.
